Please read the following flyer update for more information about the upcoming school year.

PRESCHOOL ENROLLMENT  

Preschool Flyer Update 

Residents: 

*We are not accepting Non-resident Applications*

Steps for NEW PRESCHOOL Enrollments 
1. Complete the Intent to Register for Preschool 

2.  Attend a preschool screening in May or June 

3. Complete a registration packet once entry is confirmed 

Families must complete an intent to register to be included in the
lottery for placement in the program. 
Completion of the application form does not guarantee placement.

If the number of applications exceeds the number of available slots, a lottery system will be utilized.  When slots are full, children will be placed on a waitlist.  Families of the children on the waitlist will be contacted should a slot become available. 

Timeline 
May1st all Intent to Register Accepted 
May/June Preschool Screenings 
June Families will be notified of placement in the
Program or on the waitlist due to space allocations

***************************************************************************************************************In order to be considered for a Pre-K slot, families must submit all required documentation and complete the screening process.

Required items include:

  • Completed application

  • Completed grant-funded form

  • Income verification form

  • Student must attend the Pre-K screening


Pre-K Placement Steps (Slot Prioritization)

Step 1: Returning PREK Students
Returning PREK students are offered placement first.

Step 2: Special Education Concerns / Needs

All applicants are reviewed for identified special education needs or significant developmental concerns. Priority is given to students who:

  • Have an IEP

  • Are currently being evaluated

  • Have documented developmental delays or concerns supported by screening results

Placements must align with district obligations and ensure appropriate supports are available.

Step 3: Age & Grant-Funded Requirements

After SPED placement needs are addressed, remaining slots are filled based on grant requirements, including:

  • Age eligibility (oldest eligible students prioritized)

  • Grant-funded seat requirements (required percentage of low/moderate income students)

Step 4: True Lottery for any spaces left

Once all required priorities are met, any slots left are given randomly

KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT 

To be eligible to enter kindergarten students
must turn 5 by September 1st of the current year. 
 

Kindergarten Waiver Process is for students
who turn 5 between September 1-December 31.

Kindergarten Waiver is open until April 1st-May1st Annually

(State of CT determines the waiver process. If that changes any given year, families will be notified).
